Saints chase three victories in row

HEATHCOTE will aim for a hat-trick of wins when it plays at Golden Square in Saturday’s third round of division three action in the Bendigo leg of Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields weekend pennant bowls.

The Saints and Bulldogs will play at Wade Street from 1.30pm.

Heathcote marked its first home game of the 2024-25 season by scoring an 89-64 win against Castlemaine.

Maurice Lee 19 drew P. Hunter 19, Bill Gardiner 21 d M. Fletcher 17, Adam Luxford 27 d S. McCoombe 15, Chris Morcom 22 d R. Roberts 13.

Two shots on the last end for Lee’s rink drew an absorbing contest.

After scores were level on the 18th end, Gardiner’s rink won the final three ends to win by four shots.

Luxford won seven ends in a row to seal a 12-shot victory.

Morcom led by seven shots by the 13th end and won six of the last eight ends.

A closely-fought division six match between Heathcote and Strathfieldsaye at Strathfieldsaye went the way of the hosts, 62-59.

The Saints are home this Saturday to play White Hills from 1.30pm.

In midweek pennant, Heathcote rolled to a 13-shot win at Woodbury. The Saints won 59-46.

Heathcote is at home for Monday’s showdown with Kangaroo Flat from 10am.
