Saints roll to victory in Binney Memorial Triples

HEATHCOTE clubmates Dave Thomas, Richard Edwards and Bill Gardiner (s) won the DM Binney Memorial Triples played on Heathcote’s greens last Sunday.

A field of 24 teams, which included bowlers from Colbinabbin, Stanhope, Rushworth, Kilmore, Tongala, Moama, Inglewood, North Bendigo, Elmore, South Bendigo and Bendigo, played four games of 10 ends.

The Gardiner-skipped rink racked up four wins, 109 points as Stanhope’s Peter Myers, Deb Hoye and Greg Fitzpatrick (s) were runners-up on four wins, 108 points.

Mixed social bowls will be played at Heathcote on Saturday from 1pm.

Last Saturday’s social bowls drew a field of 14 in a match format of three games of pairs and triples.

Winners were Tony Leahy (s) and Ralph Scott, three wins, 45 points, +18 shots.

Runners-up were Eileen O’Brien (s) and Karen Royal, two wins, 32 points, +15 shots.

The jackpot was not won.

Social bowls on 3 June drew a field of 12 in three games of pairs.

Winners were Peter Zander (s) and Dave Thomas, three wins, 39 points, +6 shots, from Eileen O’Brien (s) and Greg Speirs, two wins, 34 points, +18 shots.

Clubhouse cleaning roster for 12–25 June is Lorraine and Greg Speirs, and Chris Cail.
