WATTLE Range Council’s Full Throttle in Wattle Winter School Holiday Program returns from July 4–17, offering children and young people across the region a diverse range of fun, hands-on activities throughout the winter school holidays.

The popular Program features a mix of outdoor adventures, sports, creativity, culture and learning, providing families with plenty of opportunities to stay active and connected during the break.

Council’s Director Development Services Emma Clay said the program reflected council’s ongoing commitment to supporting young people and creating opportunities for enjoyable and accessible experiences across the region.

“Council has worked closely with local organisations and community partners to deliver a Program that caters to a wide range of interests,” Ms Clay said.

“From sport and culture to science, creativity and local exploration, there is something for young people and families to enjoy.”

The program kicks off on 4 July with the Great Wattle Range Scavenger Hunt, with separate hunts in Penola, Millicent and Beachport. Participants can complete one hunt or all three by collecting question sheets from each town’s Visitor Information Centre before setting off on their adventure, with great prizes awarded upon completion

Other activities include golf clinics in Penola, Beachport and Millicent, the always-popular Bush Buddies program in Furner, a basketball clinic in Penola, cooking classes and the live comedy-science show Mr Snotbottom at the Millicent Library.

A highlight of the program is the NAIDOC Week Deadly Didge cultural experience at the Millicent Library on 9 July, featuring a Welcome to Country, didgeridoo performances, storytelling and tastings of Wattle Seed Chocolate Cake and Salt Bush flavoured mini-Sausage Rolls.

Regular favourites will also return, including Wacky Wednesday craft sessions at the Millicent Library and the Beachport and Penola Visitor Information Centres. The Millicent Library will host an extensive range of activities throughout the holidays, including arts and crafts, technology sessions and Lego activities.

Most activities are free, with a small fee applying to selected sessions.“We encourage anyone interested in participating to visit Council’s website as some sessions require bookings with places limited. “Ms Clay said.

Locals and visitors are invited to take part in the program and explore the full range of school holiday activities available across the Wattle Range region.
