High octane opportunity
OFFROAD motorcyclist Max Midwinter has been selected to represent Australia at the 2026 International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) in Portugal.
Max has been selected to wear the green and gold at one of the world’s most prestigious off-road motorcycle events, with the 2026 ISDE to be held in Grândola, Portugal, from October 12 to 17.
The event is particularly significant as it marks the 100th edition of the historic competition, often referred to as the ‘Olympics of Enduro’.
It is recognised as one of the longest-running and toughest off-road motorcycle events in the world and riders will tackle six gruelling days of racing across challenging terrain while representing their countries against the world’s best.
For Max, the selection is the reward for years of dedication, determination, and countless hours spent training and competing.
A Naracoorte local, Max has built a reputation as a talented and hardworking rider, earning respect through his performances on the national enduro circuit.
Family, friends, sponsors, and the local community have helped Max get to have this opportunity, which he is truly grateful.
“It’s an incredible honour to represent Australia,” Max said. “Competing at the ISDE has always been a dream, and to be part of the 100th edition makes it even more special. I’m proud to represent my country and my hometown on the world stage.”
Midwinter is enjoying an exceptional season in the 2026 Yamaha Australian Enduro Championship presented by MXstore (AusEnduro), running second in the E3 category behind fellow KTM rider Korey McMahon.
He’s also seventh in the ‘best of the best’ Pro Enduro class, making up two spots at the recent AusEnduro rounds in Casterton (Vic) on June 20-21.
Last year, Max finished fifth in the E2 class and 17th in ProEnduro.
“From the beginning of racing a dream of mine was to represent Australia on the world stage:” said Midwinter. “Now that it’s a reality I’m over the moon with excitement and ready to put my best foot forward and see what we can achieve.”
The six-day event will attract hundreds of riders from more than 30 nations, testing not only speed but endurance, navigation, mechanical skills, and determination.
Max will compete in the Under 23-year-old Junior Australian team – the team consist of three juniors, four seniors and three female riders
As preparations continue ahead of October, the local community will be supporting Max every step of the way, proud to see one of their own carrying Australia’s colours in one of international motorsport’s most iconic events.
