Busy calendar at Lucindale Golf Club

Late last month, the Lucindale Golf Club hosted the 2nd round of the President’s Trophy & Olympics, featuring a thrilling stableford competition generously sponsored by first-time sponsors, Wild Game Wines.

The event marked the return of some notable golfers, including Sally Macdonald, Michelle Dupree, and Sammy Kiefel, who all participated enthusiastically.

In the A Grade category, Ladies Captain Rachel Smith emerged as the winner with an impressive 33 points. Close on her heels was handicap manager Nicole Hocking, securing the runner-up position with just one point less. Moving on to the B Grade division, Judy James secured the top spot with 32 points, while vice-captain Fionna McInnes claimed the runner-up position with 29 points, on a countback from Kerry Gilkes.

The nearest-to-the-pin (NTP) winners were also celebrated, with Karen Gould winning on the 3rd hole, Rachel Smith on the 12th, and Judy James showcasing her skills and clinching the B Grade NTP on the 16th.

In addition to the President’s Trophy & Olympics, the Lucindale Golf Tournament also took place last month, benefiting from favorable weather conditions throughout the three-day competition. Rabo Bank generously sponsored the Mixed Pinehurst Championship on Friday, and it was a delight to witness the participation of Nic Tarca and Gary Robinson, who also helped with prize presentations.

The Gross winners were Nicole and Brad Hocking, achieving a remarkable score of 80. Following closely were David Copping and Rachel Smith with 83 points. For the Nett category, Kerry and Chas Gilkes emerged victorious with 71.75 points, while Nic Tarca and Judy James secured the runner-up spot with 72.25 points, closely trailed by Sharon and Gary Menz with just half a stroke more.

Nicole and Brad Hocking were clearly in top form, with Nicole winning the Ladies NTP on the 12th, and Brad securing the Open NTP on the 3rd hole. Meanwhile, Josh Smith claimed the Men’s NTP on the 16th, and Sally Macdonald and Layton Copping proved to be the most skilled pair on the course.

Moving on to the July 22 competition, it was a Men’s & Ladies 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford event, proudly sponsored by Hage Tractors & Implements, along with Case IH Agriculture. The Lucindale Golf Club expressed its gratitude for their continued support and appreciated the presence of John Telfer, who played and presented prizes on the day, and Aiden Sheridan, the Silvan representative, who also participated.

In the ladies’ competition, Vanessa Stone and Cheryl Fitzgerald emerged victorious with an impressive 43 points. The skillful putting of Fitzy and Vanessa’s tenacity played a vital role in their success. A close second was the mother-daughter combination of Karena and Shannon Higgins, who secured 42 points. Jacki Baker and Sally Duke (Kingston) earned third place with 40 points. Additionally, Sally Duke won the Ladies Longest Drive award, and Cheryl Fitzgerald claimed the NTP title on the 12th hole.

Looking ahead, the Lucindale Golf Club is gearing up for the Smith & Watson Monthly Medal, the 2nd Round Carracher & Macdonald Events, and the 2nd Stroke Round Olympics. Excitement and anticipation fill the air as golfers prepare to showcase their talents in this highly anticipated event.
