ANOTHER week of better than predicted weather greeted the 19 women at the Blue Lake Golf Club for the 2nd Round of the Marlene Lingham Memorial Trophy sponsored by Callum Morrison Construction.
The event is played in stableford format and congratulations must go to Karen Panagopoulos who well and truly blitzed the rest of the field signing for a massive 43 points, playing seven strokes under her 21 handicap, no doubt booking a date with the handicapper.
Panagopoulos’s score equated to 85 off the stick and with splits of 21/22 that Included six three-pointers – a four-point birdie on 12th and only one double bogie was exceptional.
Quite a few points behind was runner-up Annette Ford posting 32 points off her 27 handicap with splits of 16/16 that Included four three-pointers, two coming from pars on 5th and 14th par three holes.
Third placegetter was Josie Ashby signing for 31 points off her 21 handicap with three three-pointers from pars on 1, 9 and 12th holes in her splits of 18/13.
Division Two winner backing up the previous week’s monthly medal win was Carol Melhuish posting 30 points off her 38 handicap with two even nine scores of 15/15 that Included three three-pointers and two four-pointers from pars on 12th and 16th holes.
Runner up was Trudy Herbert off a 34 handicap signing for 28 points with splits of 14/14 and Included a three-point par on the 2nd hole.
Third placegetter was Bev Pascoe 26 points off her 34 handicap with four three-pointers in her splits of 10/16.
Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on the 16th winners were Annette Ford (3.40) and Bev Pascoe (1.76) Pro-shot winner was Josie Ashby.
Birdies were scored by Panagopoulos 12th and Rosemary Martland 17th.

Twenty-one women played in the par competition and the weather was congenial with it getting better as the day went on.
Par is unforgiving of mistakes often favouring the high handicapper of which several used their handicaps very well.
The winner was Lyn Annand capitalising on her 38 handicap finishing +1, her scorecard showing seven pluses, five squared with a few pickups.
Runner up was Bernadette Pedlar -2 after forcing a countback with Ashleigh Mobbs also -2.
Pedlar played off 31 and scored four pluses, multiple pickups and seven squared holes.
Mobbs off 28 scored well to be -1 on the front nine and -1 on the back-nine that Included a birdie two on the 14th.
Those in the ball rundown were Wendy Burley-3, Rosemary Martland-4 c/b Carol Downing-4. Pro-shot winner was Ashleigh Mobbs (6.30) BF9 Wendy Burley.
