Captains battle it out
A lull in the women’s competitions with Christmas Day and New Year’s Day on Wednesdays there will be plenty of other days to fit in a few rounds at the Blue Lake Golf Club taking us into 2025.
The December 18 results saw some scores above the scratch 69 rating.
In Division One the winner Ronda Edwards (vice captain) had to wait on a countback with her captain Annette Ford.
Edwards scored well off her 16 handicap making pars on the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th holes in her outward score of 18 points then adding 20 points with pars on the 14th, 15th and 16th. Ford is off a 25 handicap and used it very well having two even nines of 19/19 scoring pars on the 2nd, 5th, 16th, all the par threes with a four-pointer on the 18th.
Third on the podium was Geraldine Scott (23) scoring 35 points 19/16 that included a par on the 5th in her four three-pointers.
Division Two winner is on the cusp of getting a spot in division one and after her score of 39 points off her 30 handicap she will achieve that.
In her splits of 20/19 there were six three-pointers, two were from pars on the 5th and 16th holes.
Another working hard off her 45 handicap is the second place-getter Gael Ford scoring 36 points and her 16/20 splits included a birdie on the dog-leg 15th.
Third on the podium was Beryl Mahoney with 32 points in her splits of 14/18 off a 30 handicap.
