Agars survives three way battle to take stableford

The golf gods were certainly looking after the ladies at the Blaue Lake Golf Club last week as the rain held off once again until all were in the clubhouse after the stroke competition.

Numbers were a bit light on with only 20 women trusting the weather forecast and other than cold and windy the course has stood up well and the fairways still retained a reasonable lot of run.

Division one winner Karen Panagopoulos finished only one stroke over her handicap signing for 99/26/73 with two consistent nines of 50/49 that included a par on the 5th hole.

Cherryl Hill had to settle for second spot after facing a countback with Panagopoulos after also scoring nett 73 (97/24) with splits of 48/49 and pars on the 5th, 12th and 15th. 3rd on the podium was Sue Agars 97/22/75 and even with a par on the 14th there was a little bit too much red ink on the back nine.

Rose Case enjoyed another return to the winner’s circle playing one under her handicap carding 112/41/71. The front nine of 58 saw her having to rein it in a little on the back nine with 54 recorded.

Taking second place Lucy Richards 117/38/79 is another regular in the winner’s circle and with two even nines of 58/59 it was a few double bogies unfortunately holding the score back.

Third prize was given to the women’s president Lesley McPherson signing for 112/31/81 also finding the front nine a little harder than the back with 57/55.

Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on the par three 2nd hole winners were Rosemary Martland (Div 1) and Bev Pascoe (Div 2).

The pro-shot was a popular win by Lynda Nannings who has been facing some health issues of late.

The novelty event of fairway drives winner’s were Ronda Edwards (Div 1) and Bev Pascoe (Div 2). Lee Anderson was happy with two prizes for her ferret/birdie on the 5th.

This week’s competition is a stableford event.

A reminder the men’s and ladies final of the 2022 Club Championships will be held on Sunday, November 13, with afternoon tea and presentations to be held after the 36 hole events.

STROKE RESULTS – OCTOBER 29

The 5th and final round of the

Carlin & Gazzard Winter Trophy and 15 women teed off in the very cold conditions with the winner Fiona Punton able to play two under the daily scratch rating of 72 signing for 96/26/70. After a flying start of pars on the 1st, 2nd and 5th holes with an outward score of 46 the inward nine of 50 with a par on the 12th it was good enough to get over the line and win the Carlin & Gazzard car spa voucher from Dianne Perryman 91/19/72. Pars on the 2nd and 5th in her outward score of 45 and pars on the 10th, 12th and 14th were mixed with some double bogeys relegating her to second. Ronda Edwards score of 86/13/73 claimed third prize after a count-back from Cherryl Hill 97/24/73. It was testament to the standard of golf Edwards has been playing of late, her card included 7 pars with splits of 45/41.

A massive long drive on the 10th won Jorja Morale a ball voucher. Nearest to the pin winner was Kate Hommelhoff and the pro-shot was won by Edwards .
