Dyson & Fleming snare State titles
The Mount Gambier Gun Club hosted the South Australian State 100 Tgt Sporting Clays Championships on June 15 in fine, sunny, favourable conditions.
The dedicated shooters were able to obtain some high scores in this competitive event.
There was two layouts of five traps set up whereby each squad shot 25 targets on each and then each layout was modified for the next round giving the competitors a challenging variety.
The opening round was of 25 targets was well shot with Gavin Dyson in fine form of accuracy shooting the only perfect 25/25 with other shooters close with 23s .
The next wave saw Reece Fleming shoot a perfect 25/25 with other shooters close with 24s and down.
With the sun still shining and calm conditions prevailing Jeremy Kent showed his skill with a 25/25 and in the last wave of 25 targets Tom Weir and Dougal Simson showed their accuracy skills each with a 25/25 and others closely following.
After the 45 competitors had shot their 100 targets Gavin Dyson with a credible score of 97/100 took out the overall winning honours.
Jeremy Kent 94/100 successfully won AA from Dougal Simson 89/100 Greg Kessegian with 90/100 took out A from Bruce Oakley 86/100, Nicola Dunn 77/100 just edged out Tim Lloyd 76/100.
Reece Fleming 69/100 won C from Robert Simson 60/100, while veteran Rolf Bugden 83/100 just edged out Kevin Mules 81/100, Janette Densley 85/100 won Ladies from Nicola Dunn 77/100 and Reece Fleming won the State junior title with 69/100.
The South Australian State Team for Sporting Clays is Gavin Dyson, Jeremy Kent, Dougal Simson and Greg Kessegian.
Timothy Lloyd, Limestone Coast Fishermen’s Co Operative and Collins Court Butcher were the generous sponsors of the event.
