Sykes & Robinson claim seaside ladies pairs championship

Robe Bowling Club Ladies held their Pairs Championships last Wednesday. Six teams entered and experienced some cold and showery conditions, while getting plenty of exercise.

In the first round the parings of Robbie Dahler & Carolyn McCusker, Jo Sykes & Pam Robinson had a bye. Judy Bermingham & Helen Dawson def eated Barb Brown & Lorraine Dening and Valma Jennings & Nola Peel defeated Bronwyn Matthews & Tracey Gray.

The second round saw Jo & Pam defeat Valma & Nola and Judy & Helen defeat Robbie & Carolyn., two of the club’s newest bowlers.

The final between Judy & Helen and Jo & Pam saw some great bowls being played and was close until late in the game when Jo did a great drive, put the jack in the ditch and Jo & Pam scored a five, meaning Jo Sykes and Pam Robinson emerged the Robe Bowling Club Ladies Pairs Champions for the 2022-23 season.

Social bowls on Thursday played two games of twelve ends, with three two game winners.

Runners up on 54 pts and winning the Icecream Shop vouchers were Ross Dening & Rob Hooper and the winners on 57 pts winning the Golf Club vouchers were Jim Gray & Ian Bruce. The raffle was won by David Robinson and second prize went to Rob Hooper.
