Dougal on target

THE Mount Gambier Gun Club held its monthly competition earlier this month in some light showers first up, followed by fine and sunny conditions, the shooters were able to obtain some high scores and shoot offs were often needed to ascertain the winners.
The opening event was the ‘Penola Station & Rymill Family 25Tgt Club Skeet Championship’, this was enthusiastically shot with competitors showing off their skills.
Greg Kessegian 24/25 won Overall and A grade, Dougal Simson 27/29 after a shoot off took out second place in A, Ayden Nolte 23/25 just won B from Matthew Robinson 22/25, whilst Frazer Baker 22/25 took C from Reece Fleming 20/25.
The ‘DiGiorgio Wines 25 Tgt District Double Barrel Championship’ was up next and this event was exceptionally well shot, with some shooters obtaining perfect scores.
Barry Sims, after a shoot off, with a perfect 34/34 won Overall and AA from Andrew Hoare 33/34, Mark Nolte 26/27 after a quick shoot off took A from Max Medhurst 25/27, Peter Winser 34/35 after a shoot off just edged out James McKinnon 33/35 to win B, Mark Copping 19/25 won C from Robert Marcato 15/25..
The ‘Atkin Family 50 Tgt Commonwealth Continental Pointscore Championship’ shot off 18 metres was the last competition with shooters applying their accuracy skills in this trying event.
Barry Sims with a top score 139/150 won Overall and AA from Dougal Simson 136/150, Greg Kessegian 128/150 just edged out Mark Nolte 124/150 to win A, Peter Winser125/150 edged out Scott Fleming 120/150 to win B grade and Robert Marcato 101/150 won C grade.
The South East Autotrade Highgun over the three events was won by Dougal Simson with a top score of 183/200.
The Black Crow Club gained another recipient – Scott Fleming.
The Club has practice every Friday afternoon and the next monthly competition will be held on Saturday, July 11, and after presentations the AGM will be held.
