The Potato Shed is set to host Paris After Dark this month, bringing the essence of French chanson right to your doorstep.

Award-winning entertainer Milko Foucault–Larche, in collaboration with Parisian-born star Corinne Andrew, promises an unforgettable night celebrating the best of French popular music.

This unique stage cabaret aims to whisk audiences away from the City of Greater Geelong to the City of Lights, featuring songs from legends such as Edith Piaf, Charles Aznavour and Gilbert Bécaud.

Foucault–Larche, known for his deep connection with French music, said the idea for Paris After Dark emerged as a creative solution to present French music in a more accessible format.

“We wanted to create something that wasn’t just a concert but an immersive experience. Paris After Dark is a variety show at its heart, offering a broader selection of French music.”

The duo’s passion for French music is evident in their carefully curated selection of songs, which they refresh regularly to keep the show vibrant and engaging.

“Our repertoire is vast, and we like to mix things up. It keeps the show exciting for us and our audience. We balance classics with new additions, ensuring there’s always something fresh,” Milko said.

Paris After Dark transcends the boundaries of a traditional music show by delving into French opera and music theatre, appealing to a wide range of tastes.

“The show covers a wide range of music. From opera to operetta, we aim to celebrate the diversity of French music. I even perform an aria from Carmen,” Foucault–Larche said.

This performance is particularly special as it marks Foucault–Larche and Andrew’s debut in the region.

“We’re thrilled to bring Paris After Dark here for the first time. It’s an opportunity we’ve been looking forward to,” Foucault–Larche said.

The show’s scheduling during the International Week of Francophonie adds a layer of significance, celebrating French culture and its global influence.

“The show is a nod to the rich tapestry of French culture, presented during a week that celebrates Francophone communities worldwide.”

Understanding their diverse audience, Foucault–Larche and Andrew perform in both French and English, ensuring the show is accessible and enjoyable for all.

“While we love French music, we’re conscious of our Australian audience. We’ve designed the show to be inclusive, blending French and English to cater to everyone’s tastes,” Foucault–Larche said.

Presented by The Australian French Music Festival 2024, Paris After Dark will be performed at the Potato Shed, Drysdale, on Friday, March 15 at 8pm.
