A Surf Coast guernsey has made an unexpected appearance on the world stage, with the Anglesea Football Club enjoying a moment of global exposure thanks to one of Australia’s most popular bands.

During a recent show in Paris, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard frontman Stu Mackenzie stepped on stage wearing the club’s blue-and-white striped jumper, giving international fans a visual taste of regional footy culture.

The band, known for its prolific output and loyal global following, shares strong connections to the Surf Coast. Several members grew up in the region, and the group is currently a sponsor of Anglesea’s women’s side.

Photos of the Paris gig quickly made their way back home, with the club’s unmistakable colours generating excitement across the community and on social media.

The surprise appearance highlighted the band’s commitment to its local roots and gave the club a valuable moment of visibility far beyond its home ground at Ellimatta Reserve.
