Art of craft ON SHOW THIS WEEKEND
Creative minds are invited to experience the joy of paper crafting this weekend across two days of artistry at the Vines Road Community Centre.
Paper crafting covers many things from card marking through to extending the colouring craze to rubber art stamps and markers.
Michelle Brown, creative director at From Picture to Page and Beyond, said paper crafting was a highly enjoyable and rewarding hobby.
“It’s a great craft for beginners to get into and even experienced paper crafters can always learn new techniques to add to their current skills or learn new ways to use existing craft supplies. Once you get started into this hobby, you have the opportunity to meet other people who are also passionate about paper crafting.”
More than 20 Geelong retailers will journey to Hamlyn Heights to take part, offering a wide range of activities and craft supplies for every level of paper crafter.
Michelle said that attendees can learn how to scrapbook by collating family memories and relocating digital photos from your phone to paper. Another branch of paper crafting is art journaling, the benefits of which are finding their way into the mental health space.
Activities across the weekend include mini classes where teachers take you step by step through a project. There will also be a free Make and Take project on offer.
“Our talented crafters will also be running demonstrations across the weekend,” Michelle said. “It really is a community – the crafters and retailers come together to share their latest creations, purchases and discoveries.”
The Papercrafts Show is on Saturday July 20 (9am-4pm) and Sunday July 21 (10am-4pm) at the Vines Road Community Centre (37-61 Vines Rd, Hamlyn Heights). Entry is $10. Kids and reluctant partners attend free. See frompicturetopageandbeyond.com.au.
