Having a ball on Bell: Fiesta gets bigger and better

November 14, 2017 BY

“Bigger and better than ever” was the consensus for this year’s Drink Arts Food Torquay (DAFT) event with thousands in attendance for Sunday’s Bell Street Fiesta.

DAFT’s project manager Sarah McLoughlin said the three-day festivities beginning with the Bells Beach Brewery party bus Friday night, the luncheon and art show at Surf Coast Hotel Saturday and Sunday’s fiesta, was an absolute success.

“It was probably our biggest year to date with over 6,000 people at the fiesta. It was beautiful and sunny for most of the day apart from 20 minutes where it poured down rain,” Ms McLoughlin said.

“I thought everyone would go home but as soon as it stopped everyone was back out there dancing and drinking on the street enjoying the amazing entertainment for adults and kids.”

She said crowds loved the variety on offer from taking selfies with a pony dressed as a unicorn to break-dancing, the feedback was that there was something for everyone.

“Sunday was such a family-friendly
day and topped off the whole weekend. The crowd’s behaviour has been amazing, which makes it so much easier for us as organisers to continue doing what we do when there’s no unruly behaviour. We’ve had such a fantastic turnout with everyone enjoying themselves and we are so happy everything went to plan.”
