EUROPEAN INFLUENCES INSPIRE Soula’s work

October 25, 2018 BY

Soula Mantalvanos’ works will form part of QG&W’s summer group exhibition, Lustre.

Artist and Queenscliff Gallery & Workshop director Soula Mantalvanos will open her personal studio for the upcoming Bellarine Arts Trail.

Soula will open the doors to her newly established studio, welcoming conversation about her practice and works that will form part of QG&W’s summer group exhibition, Lustre.

Having realised Parisian facades in oils, acrylics and etchings, but unable to return to Europe for over six years, Soula turned to her (previous) local Collingwood area for inspiration creating etchings of Gertrude Street and some of her other favourite local places.

In recent months she further explored the Melbourne theme in the medium of reduction linocut, and was able to finally return to Europe choosing to stay in Venice.

Drawing and using watercolour to be able to quickly become familiar with the lines of the Venetian architecture, Soula also used her time to gather reference which now sees her embarking on a new body of work – something she has not been able to plan for many years.

Pop in to the gallery and be directed to where Soula has established her personal studio at the rear of the church.

View, chat and get the exclusive chance to purchase Soula’s work weeks prior to the upcoming Lustre exhibition, which begins November 29.

A free event. Please RSVP via email at [email protected] or by calling the gallery on 03 4202 0942.

Soula’s studio will be open on November 3 and 4 between 10am and 5pm.
