REGION’S ARTISTS TAKE THE SPOTLIGHT
Courthouse Youth Arts has partnered with Analogue Academy and Creative Geelong to deliver the inaugural Brackets Art Prize. The prize presents itself as the region’s only contemporary art prize for emerging artists. In a three-day stint across
three venues – Courthouse Youth Arts, Creative Geelong and Analogue Academy, respectively – the exhibition will showcase a range of mediums including traditional, two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms, digital and performance-based entries. The final evening of the Brackets Art Prize will be held tomorrow night at Analogue Academy, 23 Cuzens Place, Geelong, from 7pm.

SCIENCE COMES ALIVE
Science Alive! is one of the largest interactive science exhibitions in Australia, bringing together the big names in science and technology, and the experience is journeying to Geelong this Saturday at GMHBA Stadium. See virtual reality displays, robots and drone racing across a day of fun for the whole family. Surprise guests from a well-known sci-fi show will also be making an appearance. All exhibits and shows are included in the entry price, which ranges from $14.74-$29.95. Kids 15 and under are exempt from entry charges. Science Alive! will be at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday May 25 and Sunday May 26. Tickets are available via eventbrite.com.au.

CELTIC SOUL MUSIC HEADS FOR GEELONG
Scotland’s finest Celtic soul brothers Craig and Charlie Reid – otherwise known as The Proclaimers – will be performing at Deakin’s Costa Hall this Sunday to commemorate nearly three decades of music. A highly individual blend of punk, folk, pop, poetry, country, soul, socialism and new wave, their songs have been described as timeless. Expect to hear the classics Let’s Get Married, Sunshine on Leith, Letter From America, I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) and songs from their highly acclaimed 11th studio album Angry Cyclist produced by Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Kylie Minogue and Roger Daltrey).
