Farm readies for fun

December 1, 2017 BY

Basils Farm is readying for hundreds of hungry and thirsty revellers during this weekend’s Toast to the Coast festivities.

The Swan Bay winery is looking forward to welcoming guests with a delicious menu straight from the smoker paired with a selection of handcrafted wines.

General manager Kim Dema said the team had been working hard to get the farm in fine form and was looking forward to the November 4-5 weekend.

“It’s the biggest event on our calendar and Basils is the perfect place to spread out the picnic blanket with family and friends and relax on the lawn under the shade of our fruit trees,” Ms Dema said.

“Visitors can take in the stunning views of Swan Bay as they indulge in share picnic baskets for two or more. Our delicious menu includes antipasto delights and dishes ranging from smoked pork ribs to lamb tagine.”

The Bellarine South bus loop will drop visitors off to Basils Farm so guests can enjoy tastings from a range of handcrafted wines and learn more about the farm’s minimal intervention winemaking, including wild fermentation and sustainable farm practices.

Basils Farm wine varieties include Prosecco, Rose, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Shiraz with special wine deals on offer all weekend and the chance to win a case of wine.

Live music will top off the weekend celebrations with Dave Dorman channelling the blues on Saturday and funky tunes by Della on Sunday.

Basils will also be open on Monday and on Tuesday (for the Melbourne Cup) from 12 until 5pm.
