Find out more about osteopathy

April 11, 2019 BY

Torquay clinic Sequence Osteopathy is spreading the importance of osteopathic medicine this Osteopathy Awareness Week.

As part of “Osteopathy Awareness Week” (April) 14-20), Torquay osteopathy clinic Sequence Osteopathy is encouraging residents to find out more about how the alternative medicine may be able to help those dealing with muscle discomfort.

Osteopaths – who can be accessed without referral – focus on how your skeleton, joints, muscles, nerves and circulation work together to improve your health and well-being.

According to Sequence Osteopathy, osteopathic medicine is one of the fastest growing health professions in Australia.

Clinic founder Doctor Rebecca Burns says although the profession is growing, there’s still a level of misunderstanding about the work of osteopaths among the public and other health practitioners.

“Osteopathy isn’t just about bones and musculoskeletal pain – osteopaths treat more than you think,” she says.

Dr Burns commonly treats patients with back and neck pain, sports injuries, headaches, whiplash, postural problems, sciatica, knee and heel pain, shin splints, arthritic pain and occupational injuries.

“We also encourage individuals to proactively prevent injuries and ailments, which in the long term leads to better overall health,” she said.

In Osteopathy Awareness Week, now is the perfect time to find out more about how osteopathy may be able to help you and encourage healthy habits at work and home.
