SLOVENIAN musical superstar Maja Savnik will join fellow local musical luminaries at an intimate concert at the Barwon Heads Art Hub next week.

The globally recognised violinist will bring her talents to the Bellarine on Thursday 5 March to headline the Bellarine Classics event Virtuosi at Home.

Savnik has travelled the globe performing in the world’s most prestigious concert halls and has formidable credentials in the caper.

She has performed as a soloist with major orchestras including the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, and has collaborated with highly regarded conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Riccardo Muti and Sir Neville Marriner.

Savnik’s early career was marked by top honours at major European competitions, and she graduated summa cum laude from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana.

Now calling the Bellarine home, Savnik is building a new chapter in her musical life – one that combines world-class artistry with family and community.

Maja Savnik will take to the stage on the Bellarine on March 5.

“After years of intensive touring and performance schedules, the Bellarine offers something precious,” she said.

“It’s a place where I can continue to explore music at the highest level while also being present for my family and connecting with local audiences in a more intimate way.”

The Virtuosi at Home program promises both beauty and humour.

Highlights include Britten’s witty cabaret songs, the passion of Monti’s Czárdás and the technical fireworks of Liszt’s Transcendental Étude No. 10 in F minor.

Savnik will be joined on stage by soprano Sally Wilson and pianist Mark Kruger, the founders of Bellarine Classics.

“This concert is really about celebrating what we have here on the Bellarine,” Wilson said.

“Three musicians who have performed on the world’s stages, now choosing to make music together in our own community, it’s quite special.”

Tickets are available for $25 for adults and $10 for under-18s.
