Kids enjoy a ferry good trip for free

THERE’S so much to see and do in Geelong, Portarlington and Melbourne these school holidays, and children can travel between all three for free with Port Phillip Ferries.

Starting on Friday, April 7, children aged from four to 16 can jump on the Geelong-Docklands and Portarlington-Docklands ferries (with their parents or guardians) free of charge

The runs until April 23, so there is heaps of time to jump on board and have an adventure with the whole family.

One service runs between Portarlington on the Bellarine Peninsula and Docklands in central Melbourne.

 

There are so many things for children to see and do in central Geelong not far from the Geelong ferry terminal, including.

  • Hoppping and hunting for treats at Market Square Shopping Centre
  • A range of free activities for all ages at the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre (bookings essential)
  • A puppetry workshop at Geelong Arts Centre, and
  • Several sessions for children at Geelong Gallery.

Ferry travellers will step off at Docklands next door to the Melbourne CBD and have plently of free, low-cost and virtual events and family attractions to choose from, including:

  • New installations at Imaginator, under the Melbourne Star at Docklands
  • The Easter Garden Quest at the Fitzroy Gardens
  • A Freehand Street Art workshop at Blender Studios, near Flagstaff Gardens
  • Creative workshops at the Melbourne Young Writers Studio, and
  • Easter family fun at the Queen Victoria Market

With uninterrupted bay views across to the You Yangs and Melbourne, Portarlington is a beautiful bayside town.

Just up the hill from the beack, the street has a strip of cafes, bakeries and take away plus a good old-fashioned pick-your-own lolly shop.
