Leopold uncle supports niece through music

November 13, 2017 BY

LEOPOLD guitarist Steve Hanan will perform next weekend to help support his young niece Willow as she battles leukaemia.

He and bandmate Fritzie Punsalang, who make up acoustic duo Salted Fish, will play at The Workers Club on October 22 to raise money for the two-and-a-half year old.

Doctors diagnosed Willow with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia a few months ago.

According to her gofundme page, Willow has to have biweekly lumbar punctures as she has cancer cells in her cerebrospinal fluid, and has to have several bone marrow tests throughout her treatment.

“She will also require multiple blood and plasma transfusions (she has already had one red blood and two plasma transfusions).”

The fundraising page says that any amount you chose to donate is greatly appreciated.

“If you can’t, could we ask you donate blood to the Red Cross Blood Bank as we now understand just how lifesaving they can be.”

The fundraiser called “Mokey Shae versus the Blood Nasties” will run between 2pm and 10pm at The Workers Club in Little Malop Street and feature live music and silent auction, with money raised going to Willow’s family and the Leukemia Foundation.
