The Salty Dog Café in Torquay welcomed an assortment of pooches as part of their inaugural Pooch Parade during Christmas in July celebrations.

Over 50 dogs were registered and arrived dressed to impress last Saturday (July 21) where they cut three laps of the runway alongside their owners.

Owner James said over 150 people were there for the festivities that kicked off at 11am, with dogs encouraged by their owners to show off any tricks, habits or funny behaviours.

“We were giving out dog treats to all the dogs that came down and the crowd loves the event and were asking when we’d be hosting the next one,” he said.

“There were five award categories and the best dressed prize went to a husky called Fiku, he came dressed as a Surf Life Saver.”

James said they are a dog friendly café, and the only place in Torquay where you can walk a dog all year round.

“The outside tables have lead clips for your pooch… and we serve puppaccinos to those pooches who dare,” he said.

“The event was a lot of fun and we’re already thinking of different categories we can have for prizes next year.”
