PUT ON YOUR DANCING SHOES AT Torquay Dance Academy

January 17, 2019 BY

Torquay Dance Academy will be beginning its first term of dance classes on Monday February 4 and is asking local parents to consider signing their child/children up to a free trial.

If you have been wondering whether to bring your child along to a dance class, now is the time to consider paying Torquay Dance Academy a visit before its classes begin for Term 1.

Ranging from old favourites such as ballet and contemporary to more fastpaced genres including jazz hip hop, musical theatre, tap and stretch arco, there’s plenty to try.

Principal and owner of the academy Kim Fraser says your little dancer is sure to find the right fit for them.

“All children know how they love to move and at Torquay Dance Academy we’ve created a syllabus to allow all dancers to find their passion,” she says.

A local mother herself, Kim understands the importance of engaging children in fun and motivating physical activity.

“My boys are still finding which dance styles they like and each year they try something different,” she explains.

“I like watching our ballet girls continue their training but then try something different like contemporary.

“Our aim is that our children and teens leave their time with TDA with not just dance skills and great memories, but also with a sense of pride of who they are, what amazing things their bodies can do and what they can offer those around them.”

Torquay Dance Academy offers short classes to beginners as well as more intensive training for those who are eager to advance their dance skills.

Classes start from as young as 18 months in the Tinklerballerinas classes which are designed especially for under 5s.

Tinkers offers classes in ballet, jazz and acro, keeping the focus on fun, engagement and the introduction of professional dance technique.

“The school aged classes are where all the fun is at and many of TDA’s classes are full just from our waitlist before we even open up our enrolments,” says Kim who is opening the musical theatre program for the first time this year.

“We had such an overwhelming response to our musical theatre dance camp last year so we’re now offering it as an ongoing course as well as our core dance genres,” she says.

“Our adult and boys only classes have also been really popular.”

Classes start on Monday February 4. To book a free trial, email [email protected] or call 0424 400 437.
