Sitting Ducks has local stars

October 3, 2018 BY

Young Torquay actress Lily Hylands joins three other Surf Coast residents to star in a new fourpart mini-series, Sitting Ducks.

Four Surf Coast rising stars are set to feature in a four-part mini-series being filmed at the moment, with Torquay’s Lily Hylands among them.

Despite getting the call back while at a summer camp in Canada, 14-year-old Lily was able to complete the audition process via phone and secure the role of Parker.

Writer and director Jessica Leaming said the vision behind the series was to create a product that “showcases local acting and production talent”, as well as bringing “an original concept to fruition at the highest possible quality”.

The show is an original sci-fi thriller/drama set in a semi-rural Australian town during the 1990s; a group of young friends spend the night in an abandoned caravan telling scary stories and local folklore, when they are suddenly ambushed by mysterious attackers.

After escaping some members are not quite the same as before, rushing to solve the mystery of their friends’ strange behaviour, the kids uncover a larger threat that may spell the end of humanity as they know it.

On September 20, the cast and crew featured on Channel Seven’s Sunrise program where they discussed the series and Lily said it had been an exciting process to date.

“I was travelling in Canada when Jess the producer called to tell me I got a part in her new web series. I couldn’t believe it! I was super excited, I couldn’t wait to get home and start rehearsals,” she said.

The Sitting Ducks team is conducting a crowdfunding page to help assist with the series production costs. To donate and for more information go to indiegogo.com/projects/sitting-ducks#.
