Summer market series returns to Aireys

January 2, 2020 BY

Market organiser Libby Stapleton said plants are expected to be popular at the Aireys Inlet summer market series.

Surf Coast visitors will have the chance to meet local producers, artists and creatives at the Aireys Inlet Market this summer.

Original handmade products will be on show every weekend of the school holidays until the end of January, following the success of the inaugural summer Twilight Market last year.

With more than 100 stallholders rotating through this season’s markets, visitors can wander through regular favourites as well as new stalls.

Market organiser Libby Stapleton said an eclectic mix of authentic homegrown, handmade, recycled, vintage and local items.

“We’re so excited to welcome new stalls to our market this season. Our food offering has expanded, with Yam Daisy delivering delicious Indonesian street food, and the Great Ocean Road Cookie Company set to serve up delectable treats.

“Fresh local farm produce is available from the market every week of the holidays, with fruit and veg, berries, meat, nuts and seeds, olives, cheeses and wine, as well as seedlings and plants.

“We have an array of crafty kids running their own stalls, and community fundraisers throughout the summer. And there is always original, quality art and craft, for which our market is renowned.”

The Aireys Inlet Market is one of the Great Ocean Road’s favourite calendar events, with about 90 per cent of stallholders originating from the Surf Coast Shire and surrounds.

The Twilight Market is slated for January 18 while the regular Sunday markets will run from 9am-1pm at the Aireys Inlet Community Hall on January 5, 12 and 26.
