Australian rock legends The Angels will be unearthing a brand-new lineup and some hidden rarities when it plays at the Torquay Hotel next week.

The 50 Years in the Making Tour will see the band fly to the Surf Coast on January 26 to perform two sets of its greatest hits and newest harmonies.

With a set-list of catalogue classics ingrained in the hearts of every Australian rock fan, including Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again, Take A Long Line, No Secrets, Shadow Boxer, Marseilles and I Ain’t The One, it’s no wonder the show has been labelled as a “guaranteed great time”.

Former drummer Nick Norton takes centre stage in Torquay as their new front man, replacing Dave Gleeson after 12 years.

Norton will not only be leading the band in vocals but will also be rocking out on the guitar beside respected guitarist duo John and Rick Brewster.

The Angels will be playing some of its top hits and hidden rarities at its Torquay show.

He said it was a pleasure to be leading the Angels through this new chapter.

“There’s such a heritage of great music there, classic songs, killer riffs,” he said.

“Twelve years in the band behind the kit has provided the pedigree, not to mention learning at the school of Rock from the honourable Dave Gleeson.

“I look forward to sweating it out with the fans, heading into The Angels 50th year!”

Founding member John Brewster said the 50th year anniversary shows would be “a very special time for The Angels”.

“We can’t wait to hit the road down to Torquay,” he said.

“Nick is an incredible musician and a great singer and songwriter. He obviously knows the songs like the back of his hand and the fans already know and love him, so he’s the perfect fit.”

Replacing Nick Norton on the drums is John Brewster’s son Tom, meaning the Angels will have two sets of Brewster Brothers – John and Rick on guitar and Sam and Tom on drums.
