TO THE MARKET AIREYS GOES

October 3, 2018 BY

After receiving approval from council, the Aireys Inlet Market is set to increase from 14 to 17 markets per year, including a T wilight Market in January next year.

The Aireys Inlet Market is readying for a busy season after receiving approval for its continuation from council.

Following council’s vote to approve an ongoing market at Aireys, dates for the 2018-19 season have been released, with the first market kicking off Sunday October 7.

Operator Libby Stapleton said she was thrilled the market now has long-term certainty and looked forward to the opportunity to deliver more markets next year.

“Council wants us to expand from our existing 14 markets up to 17 markets, so that we operate year-round,” she said.

“Winter could be a challenge but it’s testament to the fact that this market is one of the Surf Coast’s favourite.”

The 2018-19 market calendar includes a new Twilight Market on January 19, as well as more dates throughout the off-peak season from July to September.

“We wanted to give a Twilight Market a go in Aireys. There is a lot going on across the coast in January so it’s great to offer people another reason to visit our town.

“We’re also thrilled that Council has increased the cap on the number of stalls from 50 up to 65.

“This gives us a lot more scope to cater for a variety of interesting and new stalls, as well as our regular homemade and homegrown favourites.

“The 65 stalls will include five free community or not-for-profit stalls, with a free stall on offer for children to run at every market to encourage the young people in our community to explore their creativity or simply recycle old toys and clothes they no longer need.”

The Aireys Inlet Market runs from 9am to 1pm at the Aireys Inlet Community Hall.
