Yoga studio’s approach is to nurture the woman, nurture the community
A new yoga studio specialising in pregnancy and postnatal courses has opened in the heart of Jan Juc.
BeKind Studio is a passion project for new mum Sophia Lamb who has been teaching at Torquay’s Yoke Yoga since its inception.
Sophia says her yoga education began when she visited India in 2011 before settling down on the Surf Coast.
“I’m dedicated to creating a safe place that is accessible and inclusive to everyone with a belief from personal experience that mindfulness and self-care can bring deep healing and support to everyday life,” she said.
Offering a selection of classes including hatha, restorative, a women’s only class, pregnancy yoga and a course for mums
and bubs, Sophia will be guiding sessions alongside “dear friends and dedicated teachers” Anai Lindsay (who will share yoga nidra classes in June) and Jay Loacker.
Sophia’s team will also be collaborating to hold community events in the Surf Coast region.
“After recently becoming a mother, I felt inspired to make an international impact on the community and bring more support to mothers on their journey from conception through to motherhood,” Sophia said.
“I believe it is essential for us women to feel safe and secure if we are to thrive during the transition into motherhood.”
The philosophy at BeKind Studio for its pregnancy and “mums and bubs yoga” courses is “nurture the woman, nurture the community”.
“Every woman is nurtured in a unique way so that she can go back out into the community to her family and friends feeling supported and inspired,” said Sophia.
Both courses have been designed to host small groups to ensure each participant is comfortable and guided to meet their own personal needs. Sophia said there will be time at the end of each class to give mums the opportunity to connect and share.
BeKind Studio is located at 10 Strathcairn Avenue, Jan Juc. For more information, phone 0449 071 023 or email Sophia on firstname.lastname@example.org.
