A local choir that champions inclusion will join the Surf Coast Big Band in Torquay next weekend for a fundraiser supporting All Aboard DisABILITY Support Services.
The Boardies Ball, to be held at The Sands Torquay on 18 July, will bring together live big band music, dancing and performances from the All Aboard DisABILITY choir, including a special song performed in Auslan.
All Aboard participant Savannah said the choir was excited to perform in front of a large audience.
“We can’t wait to perform in front of a big audience,” she said. “We’ve been practising lots and we’ve been aceing it every time.
“It’s going to be great to do this sign language song and do it for a good cause.”
All Aboard DisABILITY founder Kate Marshall said the organisation was grateful to be the beneficiary of this year’s event.

“The Surf Coast Big Band reached out to us, and we are so excited to be supported by them,” she said.
“The funds will support a range of projects that we are delivering for our participants.”
The Surf Coast Big Band ensemble will perform swing, jazz and classic big band hits throughout the night.
Band president Joe Rokebrand said the annual event was about using music to give back to the local community.
“We’ve done about 15 over the last two years and most have sold out,” he said. “This time we are doing something bigger, and we want to put it back into the community.
“All Aboard is a wonderful charity who can do with awareness of what they do.
“Dressing up in our boardies and getting into the spirit will be enjoyable for all.”
