THE second edition of the All About Art fundraising show will be held next month and feature the works of 16 local artists.

The three-day exhibition in Jan Juc aims to not only support the local art scene but also raise funds for Geelong-based brain cancer research organisation Peace of Mind.

The not-for-profit organisation gives support, courage and community to brain cancer patients, their carers, family and loved ones.

Works will be showcased across a diverse range of mediums, including 2D, 3D, textiles, landscaping, painting, drawing, glass art and ceramics, jewellery and metals.

Featured artists include Queenscliff Arts Prize 2023 winner Irene Majer, Lu Ellmer, Jennifer O’Sullivan, Donna Pollock, Mark Robbins and Ant Twining.

This year, the artists will be giving 20 per cent of the proceeds of their sales to Peace of Mind.

Event organiser Roe Clapham said it was exciting to be bringing back the exhibition after an incredibly successful debut in 2022.

“I just love art and love helping people, so I thought this was a great way of doing both.

“Last year, we sold about $30,000 of art, which the artists kept half and the other $15,000 went to Peace of Mind.

“People with brain cancer only have about 14 months to live once they get it, so it’s a really crippling diagnosis.

“Peace of Mind do a mountain of work in this space, and they also don’t get any government funding.

“Hopefully we can raise a huge amount this year!”

Ms Clapham said Peace of Mind had many connections to the Surf Coast in particular.

“They are about 10 years old now and look after 750 patients, many who live in Geelong, the Bellarine and on the Surf Coast.

“Last year, there were over 100 patients alone in the Surf Coast region fighting brain cancer.

“That was a pretty big statistic for me, and its motivated me even more to support them.

“More people attending the event and supporting the amazing artists will go a long way to matching or increasing our efforts from last year.”

The exhibition will be complemented with music from local musicians Jeff Raglus and Victoria Gay and will feature coffee and cocktail drinks carts.

It will be held at All About Art, 22 Bells Boulevard, Jan Juc from December 8-10.
