ANGAIR’S annual Wildflower & Arts Weekend will return to the Anglesea Community Precinct this weekend.
Running September 20 and 21, the event offers an opportunity to learn about the diversity of the Surf Coast’s plant and wildlife, with a variety of local wildflowers on display.
Guided walks to local wildflower spots, indigenous plant sales and nature-inspired art by local artists and photographers will also be featured throughout the weekend.
Angair’s Sally White said 14 environmental agencies and community organisation will mount information stalls for the event.
“The Anglesea & District Historical Society will document the 40 years of Anglesea’s popular Coogoorah Park that arose from the devastation of the 1983 Ash Wednesday fires, while the Australian Orchid Society will mount a fascinating display of terrestrial orchids.
“Other organisations include the Anglesea CFA, Barwon Water, Parks Victoria, Friends of Eastern Otways, Birds Australia and the inspiring rewilding project on Lot 2 Bambra Road, Aireys Inlet.”
To mark the start of the school holidays, activities for children of all ages will be on offer, with a flora identification competition organised for older kids.
The Wildflower & Art Weekend will be open from 10am to 4pm.
The Anglesea Community Precinct is in McMillan Street.
Tickets are $10 for adults, which can be used multiple times over the weekend. Children under 12 are admitted free.
