THE Anglesea Golf Club is teeing up its first pro-am since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the return of the Anglesea Open Week later this year.

Club captain Tony Speed said 2022 had seen a resurgence in golf, with interest rising on the back of wonderful wins in two of golf’s majors by Cameron Smith and Minjee Lee.

“If you are one of the many golfers inspired by their success on the international stage, then we have an opportunity for you.

“After an absence of two COVID-ravaged years, Anglesea Golf Club is proud to invite golfers in the Surf Coast Shire to join us for the 66th Anglesea Open Week to be held from Sunday, October 16 through to Sunday, October 24.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to play our unique course presented in outstanding condition by the ground staff.”

He said Anglesea Open would also see the much-anticipated return of the Anglesea Pro-Am for the first time in more than 10 years.

The event, to be held on October 18, gives amateurs the chance to play in a team of four along with a professional for the chance to win several excellent prizes, including new golf bags.

During the presentations after the Pro-Am, the club will draw the winner of the major raffle, which has a new electric golf cart as a first prize.

The week is a wonderful opportunity to play the unique course, presented in outstanding condition by the ground staff.

Anglesea Open Week will feature a combination of individual and team’s events, including the Sportsman’s Par on October 19 and the De Bortoli Wines Women’s Stroke on October 20.

“We also have a good variety of mixed events and team events to give players someone else to blame if things don’t go according to plan,” Mr Speed said.

“Come and join in the fun, we would love to see you there.”

Presentations will follow each event, and finger food will be included in the entry fee.

Trophies and prizes will be awarded to all placegetters and nearest the pin winners for men and women in each event.

To enter, head to the Anglesea Golf Club website at angleseagolfclub.com.au or via the Mitournament link on the entry forms.
