TWO former colleagues at Camp Wilkin in Anglesea are crossing paths once again to raise funds for the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Australia.

With plenty of prizes and raffles on offer, local Geelong resident Shinae Colville will be holding a trivia night at Anglesea’s Morgan’s Bar and Grill in October depending on COVID-19 restrictions as she looks to complete her fundraising goal of $3,000.

Once Ms Colville acquires her remaining $500, she will then trek through the Tasmanian Wilderness to conquer Cradle Mountain in November with the hope that her funds will help deliver essential MS support services and ensure that no one faces MS alone.

The former worker at Camp Wilkin says she has a strong connection to the town of Anglesea and that combining her love of the area and trivia was the perfect way to get her fundraising efforts over the line.

“I love the area probably because I worked there for so long and a lot of the local businesses are really lovely,” Ms Colville said.

“I used to have 100 kids hanging out at the beach with me for work and everyone was so polite and lovely.

“It still very much feels like a small town.”

Ms Colville is personally affected by MS, after her sister Tamika was diagnosed with the illness back in 2018.

“MS is one of those things that not a lot of people know a lot about it,” she said. “I didn’t know much about it until my sister was diagnosed and even then we didn’t really know what it was or what it meant.”

Ms Colville said her sister was very lucky in the worst way that she was diagnosed very quickly, unlike a lot of people that find out they have MS years down the track.

Co-owner of Morgan’s Bar and Grill Faye Morgan, who knows Ms Colville through Camp Wilkin, has remained in touch with her since they parted ways.

“I think MS is a good thing to be raising funds for and what Shinae is doing is awesome for her sister,” Ms Morgan said.

“Another friend of ours back at camp also has a sister with MS and you sort of live through the journey with them as they go through it, so as soon as Shinae told us the event she was doing was for MS we thought it was a great idea.”
