ARMSTRONG Creek now has an Australia Post to call its own, after the new post office opened its doors on Monday morning in the suburb’s town centre.

The new post office will cater to everyone south of the railway line all the way down to Freshwater Creek and out past Moriac.

“I am pumped,” said licensee of the new post office Alex McCann.

“I’m super excited and really, really happy to be serving the people of Armstrong Creek.”

The addition of Armstrong Creek’s new post office will also direct traffic to its door from other Australia Posts in Grovedale East, Waurn Ponds and Highton to help with the influx of postal deliveries.

“We are hoping business will be gentle to get started,” Mr McCann said.

“But the parcel package is pretty huge out here and once we get that rolling it will start to come along, and it will be a good business I think.”

Mr McCann was also excited to announce that the post office will be running a parcel shoot from 7-9am Monday to Friday for people who are unable to visit during usual business hours.

All services are readily available to customers except for EIS services such as WorkSafe licences and passports, which are expected to be a few weeks away once the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade gives the stamp of approval.

Federal MP for Corangamite Libby Coker also played a large part in opening the Armstrong Creek Town Centre post office, lobbying for it in national parliament over the last few months.

“This is another good day for Armstrong Creek residents,” Ms Coker said.

“Every Australian town has at its heart a post office. It is a vital communication hub, and during this pandemic, our post offices have become even more vital.”

The Armstrong Creek Post Office’s opening hours are Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, Saturdays 9am to 12pm and closed on Sundays.
