THE 2022 Bellarine Football League Grand Final will be a re-run of 2019’s, with Barwon Heads securing a Preliminary Final win over Drysdale, 13.12.90 to 7.12.54.

Dan Donati’s side pulled away in the fourth and final term, outkicking the Hawks four goals to one and locking up a season-deciding encounter with Torquay next Saturday, September 3.

After what was an evenly balanced contest, it was another stellar performance for the Seagulls’ big forward Nathan Brown, who kicked four goals on the day.

Ned Aulsebrook was also key in front of goal, nabbing a brace at Grinter Reserve.

Barwon Heads’ Sammy Baker, Brock Close, Braeden Eddy, Ryan Harvey, Mitchell Herbison, Charlie Hurst and Lachlan Wilson also hit the scoreboard with majors.

Mat Hebbard matched Brown with four goals but was only bolstered by three teammates on the day, as Ben Fennell, Jarrod Garth and Ben Ryan were also listed as goal-kickers.

Unfortunately for Drysdale, they will have to wait another year to win their first premiership since 2010.

Barwon Heads will look to repeat as BFL premiers after defeating Torquay 13.7.85 to 10.11.71 in the Grand Final three years ago.

Torquay is hoping to add a ninth BFL trophy to its cabinet, with the most recent one coming in 2017.

The Tigers and Seagulls start next Saturday at the newly rescheduled time of 1:30pm.
