AUSTRALIA’S best junior surfers will return to Bells Beach for a national competition later this year, with the famous break to host its first nationally rated junior event since 2019.

The Bells Beach Junior will be held on 23–24 September and offers competitors 5,500 Surfing Australia Junior Series ranking points, making it one of the key events on the national calendar.

The two-day event will feature under-18 and under-16 boys’ and girls’ divisions, with competitors chasing valuable national ranking points ahead of the summer season.

Surfing Victoria chief executive officer Adam Robertson said the event provided a significant opportunity for emerging surfers from across Australia.

“Bells Beach is one of the most prestigious venues in world surfing and we’re thrilled to once again provide junior surfers with the opportunity to compete for national ranking points at this iconic location,” Robertson said.

“The Bells Beach Junior will not only attract many of the country’s best young surfers, but it also provides Victorian athletes with the chance to test themselves against the nation’s elite on one of surfing’s most celebrated stages.”

Entries for the inaugural Bells Beach Junior are open via the Surfing Victoria website.
