THE countdown to summer is on, and there’s one thing you need the most – a quality pair of sunglasses from Torquay Eyecare.

To celebrate the change of seasons, Times News Group is giving one lucky family or group of friends on the Surf Coast the chance to win a pair of prescription sunglasses from Torquay Eyecare.

Surf Coast Times readers can jump online to register to be in the running to win.

To gain extra entries to the “Shades for Days” competition, they can head in-store to Torquay Eyecare and scan the QR code to register.

On December 1, one family or group of friends will be crowned with their package of up to five pairs of sunglasses and be all set for summer.

Based in the Torquay Medical Hub at 1 Cylinders Drive, Torquay Eyecare is the town’s newest optical practice.

With cutting-edge technology, top-tier eye care services, an extensive range of stylish frames, and the biggest Australian range of Smith Optics products in one location, the locally-owned business and its locally-based staff offer personalised solutions for all your vision needs.

Stocked brands include Smith Optics, Isabel Marant, Carolina Herrera, Kate Spade New York, Eyewear by David Beckham, Carrera, Under Armour, BOSS Missoni, Rag & Bone, Havaiana, Polaroid, Jimmy Choo, Fossil, and Love Moschino.

Torquay Eyecare’s Martin Duke said the eye care services at Torquay Eyecare included VR technology for tracking eye movement and making multi-focal glasses.

Sunglasses are a must during summer, and Mr Duke said polarised sunglasses were very hard to scratch and also cut out reflective glare.

“Sunglasses are also going to help people with avoiding cataracts, injuries to their eyes, and skin cancers.”

The Smith Optics range at Torquay Eyecare includes high-performance specialised lenses for snowsports, biking and other outdoor pursuits.

“Pretty much all of our sunglasses can be made with prescriptions, so if the person wears a prescription and likes the sunglasses frame, we can put the lenses into that and match it up,” Mr Duke said.

Torquay Eyecare also has a prescription insert for glasses that can be worn under goggles for mountain biking, skiing and snowboarding.
