Bellbrae cemetery to expand, seeks new trust members
BELLBRAE’S cemetery will open a new gravesite area this year, and the managing trust is asking for new volunteers to lend a hand.
Established in 1864, Bellbrae Cemetery will make the new graves available for purchase later this year, with further details to be released in the coming months.
The new area is divided into three sections named Correa, Grevillea and Manna Gum, continuing the cemetery’s tradition of adopting native floral themes.
It is thoughtfully designed to suit different personal wishes and styles of remembrance.
Located in the northern section of the cemetery, the new area is curved to sit sympathetically into the landscape.
It will provide about 200 lawn graves and 400 headstone-only graves for traditional burial or placement of ashes.
The cemetery also offers a variety of garden memorial sites for the placement of ashes.
Sites are offered for perpetuity, and the Bellbrae Cemetery Trust works to maintain the cemetery as a lasting space where memories are honoured for generations to come through the maintenance of the flora, landscape, heritage graves and the preservation of historical records.

As the grounds grow, so too must the team that oversees them, and the trust is seeking new members.
The trust is looking for a diverse range of community-minded individuals to fill multiple vacancies, offering opportunities for both strategic leadership and hands-on service.
