Body located at Eastern Beach in Geelong

Police and emergency services are currently at Eastern Beach Pavilion in Geelong after the body of a woman was located this morning.

The woman, who is yet to be formally identified, was located at 11.25am.

The exact circumstances surrounding her death are yet to be established.

Police are investigating the incident and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

City of Greater Geelong officers are reviewing CCTV footage and are assisting Victoria Police with their investigations.

“Life Saving Victoria lifeguards were alerted by a community member about an unresponsive person on Eastern Beach,” City chief executive officer Ali Wastie said.

“The lifeguards responded quickly and immediately notified emergency services.

“I want to praise the first responders for their prompt efforts in this tragic situation, and also recognise the community member who alerted the lifeguards.”
