Book Fair turns page on tenth edition

THOUSANDS of bargain books will be up for grabs next week as Torquay Rotary’s annual Book Fair returns for its 10th year.

The community event will run across three days from January 16 to 19 at Surf Coast Secondary College, with books priced at $2 each.

A wide range of titles will be available, including non-fiction, romance, children’s picture books, sport, biographies and science fiction, with plenty of new stock added for this year’s fair.

All funds raised will be directed back into local and regional community projects supported by the Rotary club.

Book Fair coordinator Neil Henderson said the milestone reflected steady community support for the event.

 

“By attending, you’re not just picking up great books – you’re supporting Rotary’s work across education, health, youth and community wellbeing initiatives,” he said.

“It’s a wonderful example of community spirit in action, bringing people together for a common cause in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

“Whether you’re searching for a great holiday read, children’s favourites, cookbooks, novels, history, biographies or hidden gems, there’s something for everyone.”

The event will feature a dedicated children’s area for young learners, and local support organisation Story Dogs will also attend on Friday, January 16, bringing along a story dog to highlight how animals can support reluctant young readers.

The Book Fair will be open 9am to 4pm on all three dates.
