A SURF Coast Caravan Park has been nominated for a national award for its efforts in creating one of the country’s best pooch-friendly caravan and camping destinations.

Anglesea Family Caravan Park is in the running for Australia’s Best Pet-Friendly Caravan Park in the annual Jayco Greatest Escapes Awards.

Run by the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA), the park was nominated by Jayco for recognition in the category.

Destinations nominated offer pet friendly amenities to provide each guest with a comfortable stay and experience.

GORCAPA director of community, corporate affairs and visitor economy Andy Mathers said dog owners were among the millions of visitors who enjoy the Great Ocean Road each year.

“We’re honoured to be recognised for our efforts to ensure every guest, even our four-legged ones, feel comfortable and valued at our parks.”

Each year Jayco shortlists the premier caravan and camping destinations around the country to encourage more Australians to enjoy the outdoors.

The Anglesea Family Caravan Park welcomes dogs seasonally in allocated dog-friendly cabins, featuring a fully fenced area, and campsites.

Guests are able to walk their dogs off-lead on the beach west of Point Roadknight or at the Anglesea Recreation Reserve.

“We believe that every member of the family, including our furry friends, deserves a memorable and enjoyable holiday,” Mr Mathers said.

A cash prize will be awarded to the winning park to improve its facilities and services, with winners announced on October 31.
