THE Aireys Inlet community will come together this weekend to mark the beginning of the town’s Christmas festivities with an evening of carols singing and a time of reflection on the reason for the season.

Brought to the community annually by the Combined Churches of Aireys Inlet (Anglican, Catholic and Uniting), the Aireys Inlet Community Carols returns after COVID-19 and associated restrictions forced its cancellation in 2020.

Organising team member Mary Bremner said the people of the town were looking forward to gathering again for this much-loved community event after the isolation many have been feeling during the pandemic.

The carols usually features a children’s pageant, but Ms Bremner said that this would not be included in the program this year because of COVID-19 restrictions.

Those attending are asked to bring a gift to place under the empty Christmas tree, to be donated to Uniting Geelong for their Christmas hampers for needy families.

Gifts can be suitable for any age group.

The Aireys Inlet Community Carols will take place in the Aireys Inlet Community Hall on Sunday, December 5 from 7.30pm.
