Community gets sneak peek of Surf Coast Arts Trail
SURF COAST residents and the wider community had the opportunity to preview works from participating artists of this year’s Surf Coast Arts Trail at Torquay’s Hoops Gallery.
The preview exhibition, which took place on Saturday, featured 75-plus artworks from local artists, with visitors marvelling at the quality of creative talent on display. Artists will open their studios and share their works to thousands during August’s 10th anniversary of the Surf Coast Arts trail.
Councillor Rose Hodge said the preview show was a great way of building excitement towards the event.
“This year is the Surf Coast Arts Trail 10th Anniversary – Take 2! It comes after the 2021 event, which marked a decade of the trail, was cancelled because of COVID restrictions,” she said.
“I know people have been counting down to the return of this popular event.
“The preview show is a fabulous way for people to see a diverse range of local talent from across the shire at one venue, and to start planning their trail weekend.”
The exhibition features local artists including Andrea Shaw, Jan Francis, Jude Morgan and Deirdre Boeyen Carmichael and features a range of mediums – ceramic, glass, jewellery, painting, sculpture and printmaking.
The exhibition is on display at Hoop Gallery until June 26.
