Community springs eternal at lunch

December 13, 2017 BY

THE Spring Creek Community House founders’ lunch was held last Sunday from 12pm to 3pm at the Spring Creek Community House.

The lunch began the preparations for the 25th anniversary celebrations of the house’s opening, which will continue until November next year.

During the lunch, four of the founding members of the Spring Creek Community House were interviewed by current members to record early memories of the house’s foundation.

House board of management member Chris Farrow is one of the many volunteers organising records, interviews, posters and celebrations in the lead up to November next year.

“Some of our founders are getting older, so it’s nice to be able to sit down with them and record their memories of the early days of the house,” Chris said.

“We want to have a big celebration next year for the house’s 25th birthday and we have so many volunteers making it possible.

“We will continue with interviews to create videos, posters and books that members and the community can look at for years to come.

“Next year, we will try to find everyone who has been a part of the house and contact them to save the date for the big celebration in November. We will also showcase all the wonderful spin-off groups that have come about because of the house.

“The board and volunteers are always encouraging the community to visit the house and see what’s on offer. There is a wide range of programs and something to suit everyone.”

The Spring Creek Community House is located at 14 Price Street, Torquay. For more information, visit springcreekcommunityhouse.org.au or phone 5261 2583.
