THE Torquay D’s Club convened at the Torquay Hotel on Friday to have a drink in memory of club member and Torquay identity Peter “Drafty” McIver, who passed away last year.

More than 50 members turned out for Drafty’s tribute as part of their annual gathering, organising a plaque to be created in his honour which read “Drafty – the go-to man is upstairs with our memories”.

Celebrating 59 years of operation with singalongs and stories, the Torquay-bred club continues to exist with a travelling door and no set clubroom.

A rotating crown was worn by each member for 10 minutes, but oldest member Harry Milburn was lucky enough to be exempt from the set time limit.
