Festival of adventure returns next year

December 28, 2017 BY

Hundreds of kids will experience everything the outdoors has to offer as the Kids Adventure Outdoors festival (KAOs) returns in April.

Outdoor recreational activities, camps and youth organisation programs will be on around Anglesea over the April 7-8 weekend.

Event spokesperson Vicki Chrzanowski said KAOs in its fourth year, aimed to engage children between three and 13 years, and their families to get more active.

“It’s about getting more kids in the outdoors more often whilst influencing ongoing participation in a huge variety of activities,” Ms Chrzanowski said.

“KAOs was created to counteract the amount of time spent by children indoors with the average child in Australia spending at least 44 hours per week in front of a TV or screen.”

Ms Chrzanowski said for $90, kids got a full day of activities saturday 9am until 4.30pm or sunday until 12pm or both days for $140, with parents able to attend for free.

“From surfing, camping, mountain biking, canoeing, fishing and stand-up paddle boarding there is something for everyone. Families can choose to stay for a single full day, single half day or the entire weekend,” she said.

“They can also take part in the campout overnight or stay in cabins on-site at one of the many outdoor camps or caravan parks located in Anglesea.”

She said for those families yet to experience the joys of camping out under the stars, or who didn’t have the equipment this was the perfect opportunity.
