FIRE DAMAGES JAN JUC HOME

February 27, 2019 BY

FIREFIGHTERS from six different stations raced to Jan Juc on Monday afternoon to help extinguish a house fire. The fire, which reportedly began at the rear of a home in Alexandra Avenue at about 2.30pm and was brought under control about an hour later, sent a large column of black smoke into the sky. No injuries were reported. In a post on social media, Torquay Fire Brigade captain Phil Campbell praised the quick response of crews from the Belmont, Anglesea and Bellbrae fire brigades, as well as the extra support from Geelong City, Corio and D7 rehab.

“Also, a special mention to Grovedale, who sat at our station in case another job was received. Without all the help from these brigades, the outcome of today’s fire could have been a lot worse.” He said it was a multi-agency response, as police were also called on to assist and paramedics checked on the firefighters’ health.
