LOCAL surf manufacturer G Boards has shifted location and is ready to embrace a fresh chapter of success on the Surf Coast.

The much-loved surfboard and hardware retailer has now opened a showroom and warehouse in Baines Crescent in Torquay, shifting from its previous spot at 8 Winki Way in the Torquay North industrial estate.

Designed specifically to provide the most fun, safe and easiest introduction into surfing, G Boards are the best riding, most durable soft boards available.

G Boards has a huge range of surfboards, nipper boards and hardware.

The boards are made using a unique closed cell foam, meaning no water is absorbed by the foam core, creating a much greater life span and making them much easier to repair.

It’s curvier shape and tapered rails mean the softboards perform a lot more like a real surfboard compared to other soft boards on the market. Meaning once you’ve mastered the basic manoeuvres, the transition to a real surfboard is much easier.

A third-generation surf family, born and bred on the Surf Coast of Victoria, founder Paul Garrard’s aim was and still is “surfing should be fun, safe and accessible to everyone.”

“Our family has had a long history with Torquay, starting with my grandfather Dicky Garrard Snr who was one of the early surfers in Torquay in 1933. For us, we are thrilled to be bringing historic surf culture like this into Baines Crescent,” he said.

“Up at our other site, people used to come in having done their research and buy, whereas here they still come, but there are more people coming in to check things out and have a feel.

“This gives us a lot more opportunity to get in front of the eyes of people. There’s so many people here which is great.

“What we are offering is very different to many others in this precinct, and we tailor this experience to the customer. Surfers who are starting lessons, to dad’s wanting to surf with their children, they are all looked after.”

G Boards has shifted location and is excited for its long-term tenure in Baines Crescent.

Alongside the top surfboards, G Boards sell board bags, leg ropes, fins, rescue boards, nipper boards and jet ski gear.

“Our offering is wider and we just can’t wait to continue growing into this space.

“There’s nowhere in Australia where you can really waltz in and buy a nipper board, but here you can.

“We just want to embrace the full surf and surf lifesaving world.”
