ONE of the stars of Duelling Pianos is challenging the Surf Coast community to try their hardest at “stumping them” with special song requests at their upcoming Torquay show.

Joss Russell and friend Dani Fry will be taking to the stage at Torquay Bowls Club on 9 July for a night of unforgettable tunes and good vibes.

The duo will be taking requests all night from the audience, with the whackier song the better.

Russell has been running Duelling Pianos for eleven years across regional Victoria, but says Torquay remains atop the list of his favourite destinations.

“We are so excited to get down there. The people down there like to party, have a great time and get involved,” he said.

“The audience will have complete control of what we are doing out there, which keeps it exciting.

“The venue at the Bowls Club looks incredible, and we are so thrilled to be a part of the movement of rolling out more top entertainment there.”

Across the journey, Russell and his co-stars have been given some crazy from the crowd, however he is still searching for weirder material to play.

“Horses by Darryl Braithwaite, Piano Man by Elton John and Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond are common requests, but we’ve had Franz Ferdinand, Nicki Minaj, Chappelle Roan and more.

“I’m drawn to the weirdest requests. Sometimes, it can be more than 200 requests if we’ve got a bit crowd in the venue.

“Bust a Move by Young MC was a recent interesting one that we haven’t had for a long time. We just love being put on the spot and having to find out how to play it straight away.

“We encourage everyone to throw us off, challenge us with your requests, and let’s have some fun and get excited.”
